Floating Pear
Completed in his typical style, Kozo Inoue’s floating pear print is sophisticated with a poetic sense of tranquility. The monochromatic black matting and frame complements his use of a simple motif with gradations of a few colors in the background. Inoue’s style of muted tones and delicate line work create a sense of harmony and balance, inviting the viewer to experience the stillness within his compositions.
Inoue was born in Osaka in 1937, and he graduated with a degree in the History of Western Art from Keio University in 1960. Soon after, he moved to France to continue his educated and permanently split his time between Japan and France. His artworks are kept in the collections of Modern Art, Paris, Royal Library of Belgium, the National Museum of Art, Osaka, the Spencer Museum of Art, Kansas, and galleries all over the world.
